Hosting A Texas Holdem Poker Party

Hosting a Texas Holdem Poker Party

Hosting a Texas Holdem poker party is a great way to get a whole bunch of friends together for a great time where they can mingle and have a riot. A lot of people are beginning to incorporate games and even Texas hold ‘em tournaments as a part of their regular parties; they can be a great addition to a stag night, a New Year’s Eve party, or even just a barbecue. Let’s take a look at some ideas that you may want to incorporate into a good Texas holdem poker party night.

What are you playing for?

Too often people look at poker just as a chance for one person to make a whole bunch of money off of others. If you take this approach for your party you will probably soon find yourself short on cash or friends or maybe even both. To keep the fun in the game for everyone, and to ensure that you all do it again, it’s best not to play for too much money.

One great idea I saw at a recent stage was that the best man collected $5 from each guy coming to the party. There were about 20 of us and with the money he collected he purchased a tool set as the prize. No one lost any more than that, and the night retained a fun note instead of degenerating into the stressful situation that can occur when playing for real money.

Equipment

One of the great things about Texas hold ‘em poker is that you really don’t need to have a lot of equipment in order to throw a good party. Poker chips and cards are really all you need. If you host a lot of poker parties, though, you might want to go the extra mile to ensure that your house is the one that is used for hosting a Texas holdem poker party on a regular basis. To that end, you may want to look into purchasing a few more pieces of equipment, such as a poker table and chairs, a chip holder, and so on.

Incorporating theme ideas

As we mentioned above, Texas hold ‘em poker is a great addition to any celebration or party, so you really don’t have to go to a lot of trouble to use this idea. However, some people (women in particular) like to have a theme beyond poker for the night’s event. I have been to one Texas hold ‘em poker event where there was a cowboy theme, I guess because the game is called Texas hold ‘em. Anyway, everyone had to dress up like a cowboy and the best costume got an extra $1000 in chips. A fun idea if that is your thing, but as we’ve said, poker can fit into any celebration whether it’s a stag party or just something to do after dinner.

No matter what the occasion, you can always spice it up by hosting a Texas holdem poker party. Put a little bit of thought into it and it’s a guarantee that your night will be a success!
