Play Video Poker Online
If you are looking to kill a little bit of time in cyber space, or you want to try your luck at winning a little bit of money, then playing video poker online might be just the thing you are looking for. You might think it’s a little bit weird to offer a game based on a video terminal over the Internet, but the fact is that video poker is a game unto itself that requires a specific strategy and mind set in order to win and play. We’re going to briefly go over some thoughts when it comes to playing video poker online.
Where to find video poker
There are literally hundreds of places that you can play video poker on the web, and you’ll probably find that there are a few places that you would never expect that include an option to hook up to a video display depicting a poker hand. Here are a few I have found, some obvious and some not so much.
- Online casinos. This is the obvious place to find video poker in cyber space. A lot of online casinos offer a wide variety of video terminal games, from slots to poker. Whatever your video poker game of choice, one of the big casinos online is guaranteed to have it for you!
- Bingo halls. Bingo halls like to provide a few options online for their cyber space visitors, so just like in a land based bingo hall you can expect a few video terminals online.
- Game sites. Video poker is also often offered for fun on a variety of game sites, and this can be a good way to get used to how the game is played.
Most of these choices (with the exception of the game sites) will offer you the chance to play the cards for free or for real money. The game sites almost always offer just free video poker games. The good thing about not playing for real money, of course, is that you don’t risk anything. Be careful though as the free play in cards does not necessarily translate into the real money experience; free trial games are often full pay while the real versions are on scheduled paybacks at less than full pay.
Types of video poker
There is a full range of video poker games that offer a good variety to anyone interested. The most common video terminal is Jacks or better, in which you need a pair of jacks or higher in order to get your bet back. Less common are tens or better terminals and the deuces are wild (in which cards can be counted with twos to make a hand) terminals. It stands to reason that these terminals, due to the increased likelihood of a payout, will offer less attractive paybacks.
There are also several bonus video displays. These will usually offer bonus payouts on hands that include four cards of the same value.
